Director Hanna Hemila and DP Ilmo Lintonen

Hanna Hemila has been an active producer for 20 years and she did her directing debut with the Finnish-American documentary Paavo, a Life in Five Courses. Her additional production credits include the Palm D’Or nominated Le Havre (2011), a Finnish-French feature directed by Aki Kaurismäki, Bad Family, a feature by Aleksi Salmenperä (Berlinale/Panorama 2010), Varg, a Swedish-Finnish-Norwegian feature written by Kerstin Ekman and directed by Daniel Alfredson starring Peter Stormare (2008), the family feature Pelicanman by Liisa Helminen based on Leena Krohn’s novel (Berlinale/Kinderfilmfest 2004), Guarded Secrets, a Hungarian-Austrian-Finnish feature by Zsuzsa Böszörmenyi (2004) and the period movie Gold Fever in Lapland by Åke Lindman (1999); animation series Tootletubs & Jyro by Mariko Härkönen and Ismo Virtanen (2001), Urpo & Turpo by Liisa Helminen, Marjut Rimminen and Riho Unt based on Hannele Huovi’s books (1997); documentaries on Tove Jansson and Tuulikki Pietilä: Tove and Tooti in Europe (2004), Haru, the Island of the Solitary (1998) by Kanerva Cederström and Riikka Tanner. Hemilä has worked as a production advisor in Marita Liulia’s cd-rom Son of a Bitch (1999) and in several theater productions. She received the Finnish State’s Art Award in 2001.

Ilmo Lintonen studied in the 70’ies film at the University of Applied Arts in Helsinki, Finland. He has worked since the 70’ies as a DP, film director and as an editor. Lately he has been running his own production/post-production company working on arthouse films and commercials. His films have been awarded in Cannes, Paris and Message-festival in Finland.

Pentti Kakkori studied film and photography in the 70’ies at the University of Applied Arts in Helsinki, Finland. He has been working as an editor, special effects designer and photographer. His photographies have won numerous awards and the films with his special effects have won Prix Italia and IBC/ Amsterdam.

Tero Malmberg has designed sound to tens of awarded Finnish feature films since the 80’ies, the best known of them being The Man Without a Past. It was directed by Aki Kaurismäki and was Oscar-nominated in 2002.

Dani Strömbäck studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, moved to California to become the keyboard player for the Heritage Singers, studied composition, orchestration and film scoring at Manne´s College of Music, New York. He was  trained and worked as a concert technician for Steinway & Sons and worked for Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, the Marsalis brothers,  The New York Philharmonic, Alfred Brendel, Murray Perahia, Harry Connick Jr., Rudolph Serkin, Emanuel Ax, Mitsuko Uchida, Shura Cherkassky. Dani has written music for features “Winners and losers”, “Letters to Father Jacob”, for TV programs “Isabella”, “Strömsö”, “Kotikatu”, “Relationskliniken”, “Skolmusik”, “Udda upplevelser”, “Religious apartheid”.
